- ISO 15189 new guidelines 2012. The VBS-GBS started an international inquiry for cooperation with our Dutch neighbour pathologists. The counterpart for BELAC in the Netherlands is CCKL which has a section dedicated to pathologists. Our Dutch colleagues made a guideline for pathology labs to get ISO 15189 accreditation ("Praktijkrichtlijn Pathologie 2004"). For 2012 and the new ISO norm a new guidance document will be made for the pathology sector. It is our goal to make this document also valid for Belgium. Will be continued...

Nomenclature cervix cytology:
Are there any restrictions?
In negotiating this nomenclature change (cervical
cytology) there was obviously an estimate by RIZIV-INAMI
of the budgetary impact. The professional association
has an estimate of the budget change worked out based on
the following numbers:
- For the second reading (588873 -588884) a consumption
forecast of 10% of the number of benefits from 588350 to
388361
- For cytological examination in succession
(588895-588906) a consumption forecast of 10% of the
number of benefits from 588350 to 388361
- For HPV testing in screening (588932 -588943) a
consumption forecast of 7.5% in the number of
performances from 588350 to 388361
- For HPV testing in follow-up (588954-588965) a
consumption forecast of 10% of the number of benefits
from 588350 to 388361
These projections were foreseen and acceptable for the RIZIV-INAMI. It is clear
that the evolution of the budget will be followed and
consumption profiles of pathologists and laboratories
made.
Any over-consumption will certainly be tackled!
We expect therefore the sense of responsibility of our
members.
